Calculate actual length using scale

Theory

How do you calculate the actual length with a scale?

Scale tells how large something on a drawing is compared with reality.

With a scale of 1 to n, 1 cm on the drawing corresponds to n cm in reality.

When you go from drawing to reality, you multiply the length on the drawing by the scale factor n.

  1. From drawing to reality, you multiply by the scale factor.
A map has a scale of 1 to 100. A line is 6 cm on the map. How long is that line in reality?
  1. Multiply by the scale factor
    6 × 100 = 600.
