How do you place a fraction on the number line?
A fraction tells how many equal parts you have of a whole.
The denominator says into how many equal parts each whole is divided. The numerator says how many of those parts you count.
Start at the starting point of the number line and count forward the number of parts shown by the numerator.

On a number line, the steps are always the same size.
The step size tells you how big each step between two tick marks is.
First look at which number the line starts at and how big each step is.
Count from the starting point using the step size until you reach the requested value.
