In a ratio table, the numbers in the rows always relate to each other in the same way.
First find the factor between two numbers that already belong together.
Use that same factor to calculate the missing number on the right.
- Determine the factor between the rowsDivide the number in the bottom row by the number above it. The result is the factor you use to go from the top row to the bottom row.
Dividing means sharing an amount fairly or seeing how many equal groups fit into it.
The first number is the total amount. The second number tells you what you divide by.
Always check whether the division works out exactly. If it does not, you get a decimal number or fraction as the answer.
- Calculate back using the same factorDivide the number on the bottom right by the same factor to go back to the top row.
