Theory
A percentage point is the ordinary difference between two percentages.
That is different from a percentage change, where you compare with a starting value.
Subtract the lowest percentage from the highest percentage and give the answer in percentage points.
- Subtract the lowest percentageCalculate the ordinary difference between the two percentages.
When subtracting, you take away an amount or calculate the difference between two numbers.
The first number is the starting number. The second number is what you subtract from it.
Pay attention to whether you cross a ten. Then you need to carefully keep track of the ones and tens separately.
- Subtract the lowest percentage15 - 12 = 3.
