Theory

How do you calculate percentage increase?
Oud en nieuw vergelijken012.52537.55040oud50nieuw

With percentage increase, you look at how much has been added.

You always compare that increase with the starting value, because the starting value is 100%.

Divide the increase by the starting value and then multiply by 100.

  1. Subtract the starting value from the new value.
  2. Use the increase as the part and the starting value as the whole.
40 becomes 50. By what percentage has this increased?
  1. Calculate how much has been added
    50 - 40 = 10.
  2. Compare the increase 10 with the starting value 40.
