Dividing by 10, 100 or 1000 makes a decimal number smaller.

When dividing by 10, the decimal point moves one place to the left. When dividing by 100, it moves two places, and when dividing by 1000, three places.

If you do not have enough places, add zeros.

  1. When dividing by 10, 100 or 1000, the decimal point moves to the left.
Calculate 34,7 ÷ 10.
  1. Move the decimal point to the left
    34,7 ÷ 10 = 3,47.
