How do you convert a fraction to a decimal?

A fraction and a decimal can describe the same value.

The fraction bar means division. The numerator is the number above the fraction bar and the denominator is the number below it.

Convert the fraction by dividing the numerator by the denominator. Round if the division does not end evenly.

  1. Use the fraction bar as a division sign: numerator divided by denominator.
  2. Write as a decimal
    Write the result as a decimal.
Convert 14 to a decimal.
  1. Divide numerator by denominator
    1 ÷ 4 = 0,25.
  2. Write as a decimal
    The answer is 0,25.
